This is what I like to call a MONSTER BLOG POST!!!!! {Actually I just started calling it that right now…..}
Instead of the originally scheduled two posts about Megs Colleen’s visit to California and the portraits I shot of her….it is now one :) I hope you’re ready!
I met my friend Megan, a fellow photographer, at the internship we did with Sarah Barlow in Nashville in the Spring of 2010. Megan came out to visit me and second shoot two weddings this month and oh boy did we have a blast!!! But you’ll see some photos of that stuff later in this post. First let’s start with the portaits I did of her.
Megs and I had a day set aside to shoot some portraits of eachother. We were finishing up our In N Out just as it started to get superrrr windy/cloudy/stormy. I could see that off in the distance(where my planned location was) that there was rain. Tempted to put the shooting off till another day….I got brave instead and said ehhh rain or shine, let’s do it!
BEST. DECISION. EVER.
By some phenomenon, the clouds surrounded EVERYWHERE around our spot….except our spot. We were in this little pocket of light, surrounded by moody clouds and the most gorgeous sunset. The result was the most insaneeeee light/color I have ever shot in. I wish these things could happen more often!!! :)
P.S. Megs is practically a pro model!At this point…the sky looked like this.I LOVE the colors!!!!! Okay onto the trip part! Can I just say that I LOVE hosting out of town friends who have never been to Southern California. It’s a perfect excuse to take the day off and go run around L.A. and do fun stuff! Who’s coming to visit me next?!?! ;)
We started out on Hollywood Blvd and Zorro insisted on pulling me over for a dance!Then off to Santa Monica…..We decided to do some last-minute, mini shoots while hanging out ;)I don’t know why these things always happen….but it’s pretty hilarious. I always tell my friends who are coming to Cali for the first time that it’s really not as glamorous as you would expect and we won’t see movie stars every five minutes and exciting things like that. Well everytime I say that, we do! We went to hang out at The Grove and as we were there, we got invited into the audience for the taping of Extra. We stayed to check it out turns out they were interviewing the cast of NCIS: Los Angeles. And it just so happens that Megs is a huge NCIS fan! And last but not least….let’s talk about the cheese cutter. Earlier in Megs’ visit, I was slicing some cheese with a knife for a sandwich. Megs informed me that I really needed a cheese slicer. I knew of no such thing….but I am so glad I do now!! Megs bought me one before she left and gave it to me all wrapped up for my birthday. Here I am in action with it! I’m on my way to becoming a domestic goddess! ;)
