There is no special significance to my 23rd year…no reason that I needed such an elaborate celebration. Other than this: Why wait?

I had this idea in my head and knew that I should act on it and not wait another year. Who knows where my friends and I will be in another year, and whether something like this would even be manageable. Once I chose a date and told everyone…I was reassured that it was truly meant to be. Because, almost everyone I invited was able to attend….even Shannon, who flew down from Sacramento for it!

Everything turned out just how I had imagined…a small, yet elaborate, gathering with my closest friends. We ate cupcakes and sandwiches, sipped on lavender lemonade, pranced around the forest in our fancy dresses, and had our photos taken by my amazing friend, Kayla V. It was like the grown-up version of every childhood fantasy I had ever had of a tea party birthday. I felt like a princess!
