{Lauren and Chance} Orange County Surprise Proposal Photoshoot

When I first met Lauren, several years ago, I had no idea of all the ways our paths would eventually cross. Like that she would end up attending my first branding workshop, becoming a great friend of mine, and that eventually…I would be photographing this special and exciting event in her life!

I had never met Chance, but had heard so much about him from Lauren. I knew, from her adoration for him and the stories she told, that he was the man she would marry. The first time I spoke to Chance, he messaged me on Facebook, telling me his plans to surprise Lauren with a photoshoot for her birthday. I thought it was the sweetest thing for him to think of! But my excitement escalated when he said the words “There will be a ring involved”. I can’t explain how grateful and honored I am that he reached out to me to be a part of this! We decided that he should tell Lauren about the shoot, so that she could plan out the details with me…just keep the whole “getting engaged” part, a secret ;)

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, at a gorgeous location, I met up with Lauren and Chance. Chance and I “introduced ourselves”, pretending that we hadn’t be co conspiring for weeks! We jumped right in, to what Lauren thought was a thoughtful birthday gift from her boyfriend….

I came up with a little game…..

I explained to them how this was something I had “come up with after checking out The Beloved Collective”. I made up a bunch of stuff about how it would bring connection and emotion into the shoot, but by writing it down instead of speaking it…they were able to remember what was said and share it with the “audience”. So I gave them prompts on what to write…. “Your 3 favorite characteristics about the other”, “Your favorite memory together”, “What do you love most about the other”

As discussed in advance…Chance already knew that his answer to the third prompt was going to be a very special question of his own……
