Set up your Pinterest business account
Make sure you have a Pinterest business account! Business accounts are totally free and allow you access to analytics and ads. From there, you can add and verify your website. Below you can see a screenshot of my account which shows my access to analytics, ads, and a checkmark next to my website meaning it’s verified by Pinterest.
Pinterest analytics are critical for the success of your business account! Below you can see a screenshot from my analytics page showing a graph of impressions and my top boards! Pinterest also shows you your top pins, how many link clicks you’re getting, what days your audience is most engaged, etc! Knowing what your audience engages with and when is so helpful when you’re adding content.
Create relevant boards
The next step is to create various boards that are relevant to your niche. In the same way that you want to caption your pins with relevant keywords, this is also a good idea for your board names! Brainstorm the keywords that your ideal client would be searching for. Also, be sure to set up a few generic boards that apply to your niche.
To get you started with this, I created a guide with 50 Pinterest board name ideas. You can download it here!
Set up a Tailwind Account
My absolute favorite Pinterest tool is Tailwind! Tailwind lets you add your content to an easy-to-use schedule that will automatically post for you.

As I mentioned above, with the help of Tailwind I have grown my Pinterest to as many as 1 million viewers a month! While this is my personal experience, Tailwind also has this page with their typical user’s growth: 6.9x more repins, 3.7x more followers and 4.2x more pins added.
Overall, Tailwind helps me save so much time making sure all of my content is pinned. This, in turn, grows my Pinterest audience and website views. I couldn’t recommend it enough! If you’re a photographer looking to grow your business, I highly recommend adding fresh content to Pinterest through Tailwind.
In Conclusion
If you’re just getting started using Pinterest to grow your photography business, the first steps are to sign up with a Pinterest business account, to add relevant boards within your niche, and to sign up for Tailwind so that you can easily schedule and automate your pins!
